Pipe Spring NTL Monument & Grand Canyon - North Rim

Our day included a stop at Pipe Spring NATL Monument, which offers a glimpse of American Indian and pioneer life in the old West. It is situated at the foot of the Vermilion Cliffs, and is famous throughout southern Utah as a watering place. The Kaibab Paiute lived here until the land was taken over by the Mormons.

Melodie and I did meet a local resident, Whitmore. A really big guy with huge horns who kept us thoroughly entertained for a few moments.

From there we went to the North rim of the Grand Canyon.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best and the canyons were socked in with fog and pouring rain. We sat in the "sun room" at the Grand Lodge and waited for a bit in hopes that things would clear up. When it did somewhat clear we ventured out on one of the viewpoints and were rewarded with some great vistas.

We left the park as it was getting late and the group was scheduled to have  a campfire with hot dogs and S'MORES.......YEAH!!!!!

The next morning, because the weather was much better, we signed out of the caravan to go back to the North rim and see some more viewpoints. There were a  few leftover clouds but we were rewarded with several fantastic views.

We actually got to walk out on this point (Angel Window) and it really was exhilarating and makes you feel very small.  We started back down the mountain around noon so we could catch up with the group.  It took us about 1 hour and in that time the temperature dropped about 40o and look what we ran into............
